Abbey House briefing on Coronavirus, 17.3.2020

Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Abbey House Nursing Home remain committed to ensuring that we keep all our residents, relatives and staff as safe as possible and we would like to reassure you that we are taking all the cautionary procedures to ensure this.

As a preventative measure we are now closing all our homes to visitors until further notice. This measure applies to relatives, the local community and external entertainers. Our staff will do all they can to ensure that life in our services remains as comfortable and sociable as possible. Please note that we will still ensure that vital visits from medical personnel are maintained.

We have not taken this decision lightly, and appreciate that this may cause some discomfort, but feel that this is now a necessary step to protect our staff and residents. If there is a situation that requires an urgent visit, we would ask that you discuss this over the phone with the home manager to ensure that the appropriate precautionary measures, are taken to limit any potential risk.

We really appreciate your support and understanding with these measures at this difficult time for us all. Please be reassured that we are closely following and complying with the Public Health authorities to ensure that we keep our residents and relatives safe, and that our staff are supported to continue to deliver the best of care.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the manager at Abbey House on 023 8045 4044. We will of course keep you fully informed of any further changes that may need to take place in the coming weeks.

Thank you in advance for your patience and co-operation in this matter.
